Dynamic Tabular Reporting

The Sortable object takes a multi-dimensional array of values and outputs the report in a formatted table, with automatic column sorting. Numeric columns are totalled automatically.

The sorting process automatically detects the type of sorting required depending on the column contents. Value bands can be highlighted in different colours, with automatic legend output.

The data selection below has been chosen to illustrate automatic sorting of

• Alphabetic Text ordering
• Numeric data - digit grouping (commas or perids) taken into account
• Date - dates in any format are recognised with an option to recognise mm-dd-yyyy
• Weekday. Days of the week are recognised, and will be sorted in day order instead of alphabetic order.

The date column shows a variety of date formats which are all sorted according to the date represented, regardless of how it's displayed. Totalling and colour-coding is done by the table display program automatically, not pre-provided in data.
